Origin of Species
The smoke and fog drifted across the road quietly
Industry had long ago feared retaliation and abandoned operations
A benefactor and detractor at once, an expert expedition
The power of attrition will be the one that unwinds us all.
Government and corporations are one, selling dreams to serfs
An old tyranny, re-branded and offered to everyone again
In lieu of something new
The cold rust and the broken trust became the daily bread
Standing in line for cold soup turns a man to the dark side
We try not to take sides but we have to
Agreements and grievances on the road to the bottom line
Everyone is moving to the cities and hiding.
